Did you know September is National Skin Care Awareness Month? We all have different issues and concerns. Some may suffer from adult acne, dry skin, rosacea, or wrinkles and fine lines. Everyone’s skin is different and there’s no direct formula or one-size-fits all treatment. However, you can follow a few simple tips for an overall daily skincare regimen especially now while we transition from summer to fall.
Dry skin
The fall and winter months call for crispier weather and less humidity. When there’s not as much moisture in the air, there’s less moisture for your skin as well. Now is the time to say goodbye to the lightweight, oil-free moisturizer and switch to a heavier cream. Consider one with ceramides as they serve as a support system for your skin barrier.
Rosacea
Rosacea doesn’t have a cure, but it still requires careful maintenance. To help treat your skin, be sure to cleanse your face twice a day - very gently. Cleansing when you wake up and before you go to bed helps remove oil and dirt that can irritate your skin. Choose a mild, soap-free and rosacea-friendly cleanser. Rinse off the cleanser with lukewarm water, using only your finger tips. Be sure to thoroughly remove the cleanser to avoid irritation. Pat your face gently with a clean, cotton towel. Remember to moisturize daily and protect your skin from the sun.
Avoid anything that contains alcohol, camphor, fragrance, glycolic acid, lactic acid, menthol, sodium laurel sulfate and urea. If you have trouble finding skin care products or makeup that doesn’t irritate your skin, make an appointment with a dermatologist.
Fine lines and wrinkles
Unfortunately, wrinkles and fine lines are inevitable. If topical treatments like retinoids, peels, or moisturizers haven’t helped and you’re ready for something else, perhaps it’s time to consider injectables. Neurotoxins, such as BOTOX®, Xeomin®, and Dysport®, are relatively quick and simple treatments with minimal risks that are done in our office to enhance the way you look and feel, while keeping an all natural look. These treatments help to temporarily relax the muscles, which helps to smooth out those wrinkles and fine lines. We invite you to visit our FAQ page or give us a call for a free consultation.
